Following the release of the free iOS software for iPhones and iPads a few months ago, the Android version of ChatGPT is now available via the Google Play Store.
According to a corporate tweet, the rollout is first aimed at the US, India, Bangladesh, and Brazil, with more nations likely to acquire access in the following phase, replicating the iOS variant’s slow distribution plan. This implies that the app is still unavailable in Pakistan and many other countries.
We just announced last week that the Android application would be released soon, citing statistics from Sensor Tower and Similarweb that showed declines in web traffic and app installations throughout June.

Until the introduction of Threads, ChatGPT was a roaring success. It’s unclear whether its popularity will continue to grow or if it has peaked.
OpenAI’s GPT-4 model, which also powers the Bing AI chatbot, has long been available on Android. In contrast, Google’s Bard AI is only accessible via a web interface rather than a separate app.
While several tech companies are releasing mobile apps with AI capabilities, Apple has yet to release its chatbot. However, according to a recent Bloomberg report, the IT behemoth is already testing one inside.
